About Haley

Hej! Greetings from the land of the Danish, and welcome to my blog! As a junior this year at Notre Dame, I have chosen to study abroad in Cøpenhagen, Denmark! Besides being deemed “the happiest place” to live, Cøpenhagen is famous for its writers (Hans Christian Anderson), its amusement park (Tivoli), and its zillions of bike lovers. This semester, I am excited to share my adventures within Denmark and across Europe. This blog was inspired by one of the first worlds I learned while reaching Denmark. This word is known as “Hygge” (Hoo-gah), and it is the concept of the coziness felt from enjoying the good company of family and friends. Hygge is also associated with courage, comfort, and joy. It arose from the Old Norse word “hugr/hug” meaning consciousness or soul, and it has become deeply woven into the culture of Denmark and Norway.
